First Thursday today

First Thursday, hosted by Main Street El Dorado and the Downtown Business Association, will be held today from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on the Square in El Dorado. Businesses will stay open late as they celebrate the event’s Wedding Expo theme.

From 4 until 6:30 p.m., attendees may stop by the MSE tent at 101 W. Main to claim their goody bags, register for a prize giveaway of a wedding-themed prize package that will include a mix of wedding services that are available downtown and pick up maps and information highlighting participating downtown businesses and information about the wedding services they offer.

Acrylic workshop today

The South Arkansas Arts Center will host the second part of an acrylic painting workshop led by Maria Botti-Villegas today from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This part of the workshop will focus on the use of acrylic techniques like underpainting, mixed media and canvas textured surfaces. Part two will be held again on May 11 and May 13.

Cost for the Zoom workshop is $125 for an individual part or $200 for both. One may take either part or both.

KEB clean up scheduled

Union Power Partners LP/Entergy Union Station will hold a clean up west from the power station on Calion Highway/U.S. 167 to Arkansas 7.

Retired Teachers to meet Monday

The Union County Retired Teachers will be meeting Monday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church. The guest speaker will be Jason Black, Superintendent of the Smackover-Norphlet School District. Officer elections will be held. Attendees are asked to bring food items for Interfaith Help Services.
