PEARCY – El Dorado’s Jyrin Steward won his division in the Arkansas High School Weightlifting Meet Saturday at Lake Hamilton High School.

Steward, competing in the 199-220 pound division, totaled 580 pounds to take first place.

The Wildcats finished fourth in the 6A/7A division with Junction City placing second in the 2A division.

“I thought our guys competed well,” said El Dorado coach Steven Jones. “Two of our top guys weren’t able to go. So, to finish around the top of 6A, we’re pleased with that. Anytime you get to compete in a weight meet, you get to see how you stack up. We like where we are with our strength, right now. It turned out well for us.”
