Drone Licensing prep course to help prepare drone flyers for FAA certification

Unmanned Aerial Solutions of Arkansas will be holding a Drone Licensing Test Prep Course next month through South Arkansas Community College’s community education program.

According to a press release, the course will be designed to help those with little to no aviation experience prepare for the FAA’s (Federal Aviation Administration) Remote Pilot certification exam. It will cover all five sections of the FAA exam, which are regulations, airspace, weather, performance and operations, in one eight-hour session.

The Remote Pilot certification opens up a variety of opportunities, including the ability to fly drones for commercial and recreational purposes, as well as the potential to fly drones for government agencies.

Class participants will also have the opportunity to take a practice test to help determine what areas they need to study more. The course will come with a textbook that will also provide codes for five additional practice tests participants can take online. Those who take the class will also be given access to take a pre-test twice before taking the actual FAA exam.

Brandon Guillot, owner of Unmanned Aerial Solutions of Arkansas, will be the course instructor. Guillot has more than 14 years of both commercial and recreational experience flying drones and has both Private Pilot and Remote Private certifications from the FAA. He is also an Adjunct Assistance Professor for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he teaches Drone Safety and Management at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Guillot provides training for Unmanned Aerial Solutions pilots and produces aerial photography.

One must be 16 or older to earn their Remote Pilot certification. The course is limited to 12 students, so those who would like to participate are encouraged to register soon.

The class will be held on Saturday, June 19, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the SouthArk East Campus on East Main Street.
