Sen. John Boozman, R, will face a challenge not only in the November, 2022 election for his United States Senate seat, but also from several fellow Republicans in the primaries.

One of those candidates, Jan Morgan, a Hot Springs gun range co-owner and former gubernatorial candidate, visited El Dorado on Tuesday to make her case to supporters and voters.

Morgan stopped by the El Dorado Golf & Country Club to speak to the Union County Republican Women and other supporters.

According to her campaign website, Morgan is a “Christian, wife, mother, National Conservative Commentator, and NRA, USCCA and State Police Certified Firearms Instructor.”

“I am a Constitutional conservative fighter, with a proven record of fighting in the trenches for you at my own personal expense for years. America needs aggressive fighters in DC who will get in the ring and boldly take on our enemies,” Morgan said in a campaign announcement video.

Morgan’s platform lists an anti-abortion stance, gun ownership rights, lower taxes and a strong national defense among her top priorities as a candidate.

In addition to the gun range she co-owns with her husband, Morgan has since 2016 been the spokesperson for Citizens for Trump and worked for 27 years as a television news anchor and reporter. She also worked as a broadcast journalist teacher in Texarkana, Tex., and has served on the executive board of the Arkansas State Baptist Convention.

Morgan ran against Gov. Asa Hutchinson in the Republican primary preceding the 2018 gubernatorial election, coming up short with 30.3% of the vote.

In 2014, she came to national attention after making a post on a personal blog entitled “Why I Want My Range to be a Muslim-Free Zone.”

Morgan will face Boozman along with Michael Deel and Heath Loftis for the Republican nomination for the Senate seat.

Current Democratic challengers include Jack Foster, Dan Whitfield and Natalie James, who also visited El Dorado Tuesday.

The primary elections are currently, unofficially set to take place on May 24, 2022, according to the Arkansas Secretary of State’s office.
