Summertime is playtime for Frisby

Parkers Chapel’s Bella Frisby jumped into senior high athletic competition with both feet as a freshman. She played varsity tennis, golf, cross country, track and softball and moved up to the senior high team during the basketball postseason.

Frisby has tried to maintain her level during the summer, competing in golf and tennis while also traveling with the Lady Trojans for basketball camps.

Her biggest event, so far, was the 37th Faded Rose Bruce Jenkins Memorial Junior Golf Championship, held June 28-29 at Rebsamen Golf Course. Frisby posted scores of 81 and 84 to finish 10th in the high-level tournament.

“I was proud of this because it was my first tournament to play in and I placed top 10,” she said.

This weekend the sophomore was scheduled to travel to Hot Springs Village to compete in the Ike Eisenhauer State Farm Insurance Tennis Tournament. The tournament would be rained out, however.

“I spend most every day of my summer at the golf course. I practice around 2-to-3 hours of chipping, putting, and hitting at the range,” said Frisby. “Then on some days I might go play a round of 18 holes. Then in the evenings I will go to the tennis courts and practice with family and friends. I practice 6-to-7 days a week. I spend most of my time practicing golf because it’s the most challenging (and) important sport for me.

“I’ve only played in one golf tournament so far this summer, but I have one more scheduled to play.”

Going from sport-to-sport in the summer will be important for Frisby, who will compete in golf and tennis simultaneously for the Lady Trojans, beginning in August.

“I’ve also been getting ready for basketball season,” she added. “We have had already had a couple camps and are planning to have more.”
