El Dorado sweeps past Texarkana

TEXARKANA – Isaiah Ramey hit a layup with four seconds left on the clock to lift El Dorado’s varsity boys to a 43-42 victory at Texarkana on Tuesday. The Wildcats improved to 5-8 overall but 2-0 in league play.

It was a sweep for El Dorado. The Lady Wildcats prevailed 48-39 in the varsity girls’ game.

The Wildcats rallied from 12 points down to win.

“Had to battle through some adversity,” said El Dorado coach Jimmy Porter. “We struggled to get calls and their matchup zone gave us fits. Proud of them battling back and winning on the road.”

Ramey led the Wildcats with 12 points while Jarmel Love chipped in with 10. James Hartfield added six with Laronte McHenry and David Aryee adding five apiece.

The Lady Wildcats trailed 25-22 at the half but were dominant down the stretch as they evened their league mark at 1-1.

Carshaila Rozier paced El Dorado with 16 points. Zaria Brown scored nine while Lauren Nelson chipped in with eight, Dakayla Hill six and Charalyn Rester five.

“We started this game off rough after being off for a week, but the girls were able to fight through that and pull out a good team win,” said El Dorado coach Jae Kell. “We were able to hold them to four points in the third quarter and then we maintained a lead the entire fourth quarter. We limited our turnovers even through a press and we were able to force over 20 turnovers. I am proud of the way our girls competed to get this conference win.”

El Dorado’s teams travel to Lake Hamilton on Friday.
