Bulldogs top Hermits in return

HERMITAGE - Emauri Newton and Byron Maze each had doubles-doubles, as Strong cruised to a 69-38 win over Hermitage in 8-1A play Tuesday night.

The game was the first for the Bulldogs (2-3, 2-2) since Dec. 29 at Hot Springs Lakeside.

More importantly for the Bulldogs, the win gives them a sweep of the season series against the Hermits.

Strong won the opener 61-34 at home last month.

Newton had 16 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and two steals, while Maze had 10 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win.

Strong placed four players in double figures in the win with Shundarius Shelton leading the way with 17 points.

He also had three rebounds and two assists.

LaQuincy Shelton chipped in with 11 points and two assists for the Bulldogs.

Treveon Daniels grabbed 10 rebounds while scoring seven points to round out Strong.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday when they play at Taylor.
