Bus stop added to patrol list after report of indecent exposure

A school bus stop on the west side of town was placed on the El Dorado Police Department’s special patrol list Tuesday after officers received a report that a man committed a lewd act in the area as students waited nearby for their bus.

A woman told officers she called them after her teenage daughter notified her about the alleged incident.

The girl told police the man walked north past her bus stop on North Bradley at approximately 7 a.m.

Moments later, the girl said she heard leaves rustling behind her and when she turned around, she saw the man performing a sex act in a wooded area in the 900 block of North Yocum.

She said another student also witnessed the incident, adding that the suspect stared at them while performing the lewd act.

The girl said she continued to hear leaves rustling until the school bus arrived at approximately 7:15 a.m. She said she then looked back toward the woods and saw that the man was gone.

The suspect was described as an “older” black male and short with a “big belly.” He reportedly wore a blue surgical mask, a gray, hooded jacket, dark pants and dark shoes.

Police said the area has been placed under special patrol.

Officers also responded at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a burglary at Cook’s Seafood, 1031 E. Hillsboro.

The owner of the business said a lock box containing $500 cash was missing.

The complainant also said that someone covered the business’s motion detector with tape, noting that the detector is near the back door, where the suspect(s) entered the building.

He explained that the tape prevented the burglar alarm from sounding.

Potential suspects were identified, police said.
