El Dorado earns first win of season at Cabot

CABOT - El Dorado’s varsity boys traveled to Cabot on Tuesday and earned their first basketball victory, 57-50, over the Panthers. The Wildcats improved to 1-1, coming off a 66-59 loss at Texas High last week.

“Good win for this group of basketball-only guys,” said El Dorado coach Jimmy Porter. “We have 11 guys with us and 12 guys on the football field with five returning varsity players still competing for a state football championship on Saturday.”

In addition, 6-foot-7 Laronte McHenry tore his patellar tendon during the  Purple-White game. He’s expected to return in January.

On Tuesday, it was David Aryee who led the Wildcats with 19 points, including nine in the fourth quarter. Damario Buffert and Knolej White each scored 12 with Deontae James chipping in with 10.

Jarrett Coleman and Jermaine Christopher led Cabot with 14 and 13, respectively.

The Wildcats led 19-9 after one quarter and 32-26 at the half. The margin was 43-34 going into the final period.

El Dorado will travel to Benton on Friday.
