Dragons, Lady Bucks collect wins at tournament

FORDYCE – Three games in three nights, three wins for Junction City.

On Wednesday night, the Dragons broke open a close game with a big third quarter to top Camden Fairview 64-34 at the FBT Bank & Mortgage Basketball Classic.

The Dragons (3-0) advanced to Saturday’s championship game against Arkadelphia with the win.

Leading 31-24 at intermission, the Dragons outscored the Cardinals 21-7 in the third quarter to take a 52-31 edge.

After scoring 36 points in the Dragons’ conference-opening win over Hampton on Tuesday, Ryan Allen had 27 points against Camden Fairview.

Jakourian Key also had a big game with 23 points for the Dragons, who will make their first road trip in conference play on Friday when they travel to Spring Hill.

Traveon King had eight points for Camden Fairview.

FORDYCE – The Lady Bucks rolled to their first win of the year with Laylah Gatson scoring 10 points and Ma’Kalia Massey chipping in with eight points in the win at the FBT Bank & Mortgage Basketball Classic.

Smackover (1-3) hits the road to face Hampton in non-conference play on Friday.

The Lady Bucks will then face either Rison or Fordyce’s JV team Saturday at 1:30 p.m. to finish play at Fordyce.
