El Dorado’s varsity girls can smell the postseason. The Lady Wildcats turned in another stellar effort on Friday, blasting Lake Hamilton 13-0 in 5A South soccer action at Memorial Stadium. El Dorado improved to 8-2 in league play with games at White Hall on Tuesday and at home against Sheridan next Friday.
El Dorado coach Neville Matthews said the Lady Wildcats didn’t play well in a 6-0 win over the Lady Wolves earlier in the season. That wasn’t the case on Friday.
“Last time we played them we struggled a little bit. Putting the score aside, the girls played well,” Matthews said. “They had them on their heels from the get-go. In the first five minutes of the game, they had them baffled. They didn’t know where the attacks were coming from. The attacks were coming from all over.”
London Ingram led the Lady Wildcats with four goals. Marleigh Bonsall had three goals and Caroline Meadows scored twice. Delia Gonzalez and Madilyn Bonsall had a goal apiece and Lake Hamilton contributed a pair of own goals.
El Dorado led 10-0 at the intermission.
“We’re peaking at the right time going into the state tournament,” said Matthews. “As a team, we did well as a team. Overall, it was a good game for the seniors.”
