Food delivery service expands to El Dorado

Waitr, the food delivery service, is expanding to El Dorado.

Waitr is an online food ordering platform, providing delivery, carryout and dine-in options. The company, based and originally founded in Louisiana, is similar to bigger name food delivery companies like DoorDash and Grubhub, but caters to small and medium sized towns.

Dean Turcol, Waitr relations director, shared some things he thinks separates the company from other delivery services.

“We can truly say we are local in many ways,” Turcol said. “We’re not just delivering your food like others, we employ a lot of people in the area so when you order from Waitr, they are supporting a local delivery company and local restaurants.”

Waitr is currently looking for more local drivers to employ to help with food delivery and is kicking off its debut in El Dorado with special free delivery, according to a press release. Anyone in the city can get their food delivery free by using the Waitr app.

“Right now we are looking for contract drivers and that basically means they can work when they want to,” Turcol said. “They have the freedom to pick up shifts and it is really flexible in terms of scheduling.”

Another thing Turcol says separates Waitr from others is its contributions and philanthropy in the communities it serves.

“Something we’re really proud of is our community outreach, not just around the pandemic but some of the recent hurricanes in the communities we serve,” Turcol said. “We held multiple food drives and donation drives as food banks were experiencing a massive food shortage. We’ve also partnered with local blood providers for blood drives that were sponsored by Waitr in Louisiana markets and throughout the South.”

Waitr also hires team managers that coordinate drivers and delivery efforts in each community they serve.

“We live in the community, we support the community and that is what we want our team members, customers and restaurant partners to remember. A lot of the communities we serve often get lost in the shuffle of the corporate food delivery services,” Turcol said.

Turcol said he hopes people give the service a try, because he believes it is customer driven, and without strong customer support, the business would not thrive.

“If our restaurant partners are not satisfied with us, we can’t have our business. If our customers are not satisfied with us, we can’t have our business,” Turcol said. “So we want to do the best we can at providing the best delivery experience possible while at the same time, being community oriented.
