PARKERS CHAPEL - Parkers Chapel got another stellar performance out of its rotation, and the Trojans’ offense broke open a close game with a seven-run fourth en route to a 10-0 win over Fordyce in an 8-2A clash Monday.
Reid Cates, who didn’t allow an earned run in beating DeWitt last month, fired a three-hit shutout and struck out 10. He didn’t issue any walks.
Cates needed 68 pitches to subdue the Redbugs, throwing just 17 balls in his outing.
The game was a nip-and-tuck affair with the Trojans (12-5, 3-1) leading 1-0 until their aforementioned rally in the fourth.
Trace Shoup went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs, while Spencer Frisby went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs in the win. Cates also helped himself by driving in two runs while going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. He also scored two runs.
Mason Dougan, Wyatt New and Branson Bryant each had one hit and scored a run for the Trojans, who had nine hits in the win.
Austin Looney collected an RBI for PC.
The Trojans stepped out of league play Tuesday and hosted Ouachita.
