Lady Pirates nip Junction City

EMERSON – Sidney Tinniel’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Emerson to a 6-5 non-conference victory over Junction City on Tuesday. The Lady Dragons fell to 6-9 overall.

The Lady Pirates scored a run in the second and three in the third to take a 4-0 lead. The Lady Dragons answered with five runs in the top of the fourth. Leslie Reddick singled and Allie Thurmon walked. Both would score on a wild pitch and a passed ball.

Emerson tied the game in the bottom of the fifth before scoring the game winner in the seventh.

Junction City had eight hits with Emma Thurmon and Avery Anderson each going 2-for-4. Anderson had three stolen bases.

Tori McLelland struck out four, walked two and allowed seven hits in six innings. The Lady Dragons committed nine errors.

Addison McNeil pitched for Emerson, striking out two and walking five in seven innings.

Junction City plays Hampton on Friday.
