Kiwanis Club of El Dorado installs new officers

The Kiwanis Club of El Dorado held its 2020-2021 officers installation banquet on Sept. 30.

According to the Kiwanis Club’s Facebook page, the mission of the club is to empower communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children. It is a service organization dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.

The Club hosts and performs several civic activities including the El Dorado’s Kiwanis Club Reads and the recent “Myths, Answers, & Updates,” with Dr. Ezinne Nwude.

“I want to thank everyone for all the hard work,” former Kiwanis President W.L. Cook, said. “This has been the most unusual year I think we could have ever asked for. I know it has been strenuous on all but I know we’ve been still doing the work that we can and we will continue to do so.”

The 2020-2021 Officers are as follows:

  • President: Jaren Books
  • President-Elect: Victoria Young
  • Treasurer: Marc Emrich
  • Secretary: Melissa Risher
  • Past President: WL Cook

The Board members are as follows: Esther Byrd, Worth Camp, Don Harrell and Randy Jerry.

The Club also shared the names of members that had perfect attendance for the 2019-2020 year: Mark Barton, Jaren Books, Esther Byrd, Worth Camp, W.L. Cook, Randy Jerry, Melissa Risher and Victoria Young.

“I look forward to this year. I know it is very different from what it would have normally been because of the pandemic but I know that we will be able to adapt and better serve our community the best way we can,” Jaren Books, Kiwanis President, said. “We have several things that we’re working on and I know we’re going to get a lot accomplished.”
