In October of 2017, Tru Story Counseling, LLC partnered with SAMA Healthcare to create an outpatient counseling service in El Dorado.

Heather Story, owner of Tru Story Counseling, added Spencer McCullough to her team in July of 2019. Abby Cate is Tru Story Counseling’s most recent addition.

“As the need for mental health services continues to rise, we are honored to have Abby Cate working with us,” said Story. “We believe in people’s ability to overcome life’s obstacles and we enjoy meeting the unique needs of each individual referred by SAMA, as well as the surrounding communities.”

Tru Story Counseling works with patients of all ages to provide additional support and coordinate care with each of SAMA’s health care providers.

Some of the services that are offered by Tru Story Counseling include stress management, life changes, anxiety, grief, trauma, relational problems and education about the impact of emotional health as it pertains to medical well-being.

“We’ve grown to have six doctors on the SAMA staff, a ‘kids’ clinic’, support staff and two specialists,” said Atkinson.

“South Arkansas has a limited choice of options for mental health care. We are pleased to offer another choice for residents,” he continued. “We are excited that Tru Story Counseling is growing their team and allowing more patients to have the resources they may need.”
