Gerald Max Rogers, 92, left for heaven Thursday, September 21, 2020. Born August 5, 1928 in Marsden, Arkansas, he was the son of John Hollis and Versia Mae Johnson Rogers.

Max was a patriotic man. He served his country during the Korean War as member of the United States Army as a military police officer.

Max was a man of faith. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of El Dorado. In his younger days at Immanuel he was a teacher and Sunday School director. In his later years he became known as Chief Elf. Max loved to volunteer his time to promote Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child project which sends boxes to children all over the world. He also invented a toy to put in the boxes for the kids. It is made from a cd, a marble, and a pop top. He called it a “spinner” and to this day people are still making “spinners” and stuffing them in OCC boxes.

Max was a family man. He was preceded in death by his precious wife Patsy Jane and his beautiful daughter Vickie Lynn. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Bea Dixon, Jean Martin, Mary Phillips and brothers John Hollis, Jr. and Rudy Rogers.

The survivors are his son Cliff Rogers (Pamela), his grandsons Daniel and Aaron (Audra) of Fayetteville, and his great granddaughter Mollie Mae, his sister Gayla Powell of Warren, Arkansas, and brothers Rex Rogers of Houston, Texas and Harold Rogers of Diana, Texas.

Even though he worked tirelessly to support his family, he always made time to take his family on a two-week vacation to Albert Pike and a week in Florida with the family friends. Once he retired and the grandkids showed up it was off to Lake Claiborne, Walt Disney World and everywhere in between.

Gerald Max Rogers is a man that made a positive impact on everyone he met, and he will be missed.

Graveside service for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 2pm at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
