David Brent Miller, 38, of Little Rock was arrested by officers of the Union County Sheriff’s Office Thursday evening at his home in relation to crimes against children.

According to a press release from the UCSO, Miller is facing charges of computer child pornography and pandering or possessing visual or print medium depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.

“The pandering is trying to persuade someone to send illicit materials to you,” Capt. Jeff Stinson, chief investigator for the UCSO, said in a message to the News-Times. Stinson said he could not comment on whether child pornography had been found on Miller’s computer.

Miller is currently on administrative leave pending an investigation from Sheridan High School, where he has been a choir and drama teacher since August, 2015. A spokesperson for the Sheridan School District said the high school serves ninth through 12th graders.

“SSD is aware of the arrest of a staff member and is taking immediate and appropriate action to assure the safety of students. The employee has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. We will have no further comment as the situation is a personnel matter which is confidential under applicable law,” a statement from the district reads.

Stinson said the victim of the crimes Miller is charged with resides in Union County. The investigation is ongoing, he said.

“I can’t comment too much on the further investigation, since it’s pretty fluid in that one thing can lead us down any number of paths,” Stinson said in a message.

Miller previously volunteered at the South Arkansas Arts Center and was formerly slated to direct a production of “Mamma Mia!” there that was put on hold this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. He is no longer associated with the project, a spokesperson for SAAC said.

Miller was being held at the Union County Jail on $150,000 bond Friday afternoon.
