J. Richard Morgan accountant firm is ready to help

J. Richard Morgan, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), held a ribbon cutting ceremony for his accounting firm in Smackover on Monday, Nov. 2.

Members of his staff and the Smackover Chamber of Commerce were in attendance. They stood in front of his business front, with a sign adjacent to the entryway with Morgan’s business motto inscribed: “Keeping Your Books Square & Your Business On The Level.”

“Our mission is to help our clients any way we can,” Richard Morgan emphasized. “We want to help them keep their businesses running whether that’s helping with payroll, taking care of their accounting work, or taking care of their books to give them a bird’s eye view of what’s going on in their business.”

The New Orleans native and former IRS and Murphy USA employee moved to Arkansas 15 years ago after Hurricane Katrina. He has worked hard and studied to get his CPA licensing. The agency he is taking over used to belong to longstanding Smackover CPA Gary De Yampert. Morgan does not take the transition lightly and said he is honored to follow in the footsteps that has served Smackover and Union County for many years.

“We have a good rapport and he sold it to me. He still comes around from time to time and it is good to have him here,” Morgan said. “We want to continue his legacy and offer a lot of the same great services that he provided.”

Some of those services include helping people and businesses navigate through a lot of the funding and opportunities that are now available in part because of COVID-19, like the the SECURE Act, the CARES Act and paycheck protection applications.

Morgan said he is ready to serve those in need of his services and is already loving the Smackover community.

“Smackover is a great community. It is small but it is mighty in its participation,” Morgan said. “It is a really great place and I’m honored and happy to be here.”
