As coaches and players try to find ways to prepare themselves just in case high school competition is able to resume, Parkers Chapel athletic director and football coach Elliot Jacobs took to Facebook on Monday to post a video to reach out to the school’s student-athletes.
All schools in Arkansas are in a dead period until April 17 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and as the third week without competition began, Jacobs said proper conditioning during the hiatus was a top priority in case spring sports resume.
“We can’t meet face to face, so we wanted to let them know that we’re thinking about them,” Jacobs said.
“I wanted them to understand that it’s on them to make sure they stay up with their conditioning since we can’t be there.”
Jacobs also spoke about starting the recruiting process for those student-athletes who want the opportunity to play collegiately.
Parkers Chapel has had several players from various sports sign during the earlier signing periods, including softball standout Kenlee McAuliffe with Three Rivers College in Missouri, and football standout Caleb Jacobs with Arkansas-Monticello.
“I wanted to throw that out there that if they want to play at the next level, they need to get started on the process now,” Jacobs said.
