Wildcats split pair of games in Louisiana

RUSTON, La. - El Dorado split two games against Louisiana foes on Saturday.

The Wildcats downed Benton (La.) 6-4, but fell to Ruston (La.) 11-3 in the nightcap.

Austin Jobe turned in a solid performance on the hill for the Wildcats in their victory, allowing just two hits and one unearned run over six innings of work. He walked four and struck out eight.

Jobe also helped himself at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

Brennan Jones belted a home run in the third inning while drawing a walk and scoring two runs in the win.

Jared Rhodes went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, while Tyler Johnson went 2-for-4 and Chase Webb had a double and two RBIs for EHS.

In the second game of the day, Rhodes delivered another multi-hit performance, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Connor Black went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Preston Howard took the loss, allowing six hits and five runs in 2 1/3 innings.

Landen Rainwater allowed three hits and three runs in 1 1/3 innings out of the bullpen. He walked five and struck out one.

Christian Webb allowed four hits and two runs in 1 1/3 innings and Ashton Yarbrough allowed one run in one inning of work. He didn’t allow any hits and struck out two.

The Wildcats (3-2) host Junction City (2-2) at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
