El Dorado standout shines

Austin Jobe followed his no-hitter with another solid outing over the weekend.

Jobe, a standout with El Dorado who has verbally committed to Arkansas, threw five shutout innings for the Arkansas Sticks in their scoreless tie against Cangelosi Sparks Sunday at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

A sophomore, Jobe allowed two hits, walked three and struck out three.

“I had a good outing overall Sunday afternoon,” Jobe said.

“I had a really good feel for both my four-seam and two-seam fastball early. I couldn't quite find my curveball in the first inning, but I made some grip adjustments in between the first and second innings and it just clicked from then on.

“Austin Ledbetter from Bryant came in and closed the door in the last two innings. Overall, a great, lights-out pitched game.”

Over his last two outings, Jobe has allowed one unearned run over 12 innings of work.

He has walked five while racking up seven strikeouts and allowing just two hits.

Jobe will be off the travel circuit this week, but is scheduled to compete next at Lake Charles, La.
