Winzel Matthew Lowdermilk, 91, of El Dorado, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas with family by his side.

He was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Prescott to Claude Matthew and Alta Vivian Cross Lowdermilk.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Johnny Seburn Lowdermilk; his sister, Audrey Corene Lowdermilk Herrbold; and his daughter, Linda Ruth Lowdermilk Brasher.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruthal Mae Avery Lowdermilk; his daughter, Karen Elaine Lowdermilk Welch and husband Jim of Bryant; son-in-law, Charlie Brasher; five grandchildren: Matthew Welch and wife Courtney, Daisy Switzer and husband Brian, Ben Henry Brasher, Daniel Welch and Luke Welch; and two great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Switzer and Jackson Switzer.

Winzel loved the Lord, loved his family and served for years as a Sunday School teacher and board member at both Marrable Hill Chapel and at Hickory Grove Chapel. He was a member and past president of the Gideon Camp in El Dorado. He loved reading the bible, and numerous times read it through from Genesis to Revelation.

Winzel retired after 24 years from National Laboratories as a Territory Sales Director. In retirement, he greatly enjoyed extensive travel with his wife, hours spent fishing with his friend Wilson Hargett, and every year proudly growing a large garden.

He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean conflict.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020 at Bailey Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Harrison officiating. Graveside service will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Prescott at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Arrangements under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
