I am excited and proud to announce my candidacy for re-election for the position of El Dorado Alderman Ward 1 position 2 as a Republican in this coming March primary election. I look forward to representing everyone in El Dorado fairly. I will run a positive campaign, one in which I will display integrity and honesty. I will do so by listening openly to the concerns of all members of community. For the past 11 years all of my decisions have been made on the strength of the well being for all citizens of El Dorado, which is the highest priority of the City Council.

My long involvement and strong interest in local government has given me the understanding necessary to work with city government and citizens. Guidance, leadership and understanding will be key to meeting El Dorado’s future challenges and opportunities. I have a goal of building a better El Dorado, one that thrives economically and maintains that “small-town feel.” El Dorado has a very bright future with so much encouraging activity on the horizon. To keep myself informed I will continue to attend the various city commission meeting and work with the dedicated city employees and volunteers to improve the quality of life of all citizens in El Dorado.

I have been married 55 years to Judy Bates Blann, and have two children, Kimberly Giacona of El Dorado and Lisa Bechtelheimer of Katy, Texas. We have five grandchildren.

I am currently a member of First United Methodist Church of El Dorado, El Dorado Rotary Club member, and served six years as Chairman of El Dorado Commercial Historic District Commission. El Dorado is my chosen community and I genuinely care for the people and the welfare of the community. I love this job and I am grateful to community members for the opportunity to volunteer and serve. Service is a privilege.

For recreation I am an active outdoorsman, including, riding bicycles, running marathons and hiking Arkansas trails.

I graduated from El Dorado High School and attended Southern State College two years; graduated from Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas with an AS in Electronics. For the last 37 years I have owned and operated a publishing business in El Dorado.

We live in a great city! Let’s work to gather to make it an even better place to live, work and play.
