Earl Edward Thurmon Sr., 75, of Spearsville, Louisiana, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020 at his home in Spearsville.
Earl was born Aug. 9, 1944 in Spearsville to the union of George Thurmon and Etta Tucker Thurmon. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Jean Williams.
Earl was a self-employed carpenter for 40 years and was a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Patricia Stringer Thurmon; two sons, Earl E. "Eddie" Thurmon, Jr. and Keith Wayne Thurmon and wife Stephanie; one daughter, Donna McLelland and husband Trent; one sister, Esther Mullins and husband Donald; one brother, Leon Thurmon and wife Violet; five grandchildren, Whitney, Morgan, Jacob, Trevor and Kenslee; two great grandchildren, Ellyson and Arabella; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020 at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church in Spearsville, Louisiana.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Rubin Weaver and the Rev. Nick Andrews officiating. Interment will be in the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Junction City, Arkansas.
