Joye J. Shockley, 83, of El Dorado, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020 at Willow Ridge Nursing Home in Arcadia, Louisiana. She was born March 4, 1936 to Richard and Mamie Strickland Johnson in Hampton.

She worked in the loan department at NBC Bank and Simmons Bank before her retirement. Joye was an active member of East Main Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She served in many ways on various committees and in outreach and as a Sunday school teacher. She was active in community service. She lovingly provided and cared for her family.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Richard Shockley; her sister, Celia Joyce McNeely; her brother, Jerry Wayne Johnson; and her infant brother, Richard Lee Johnson.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Keitha Nier and Janie Maddox (Tommy) both of Minden, Louisiana; grandchildren, Michael Nier, Jake Nier, Angela Nier, Launa Stanford (Sam), Nicole Robinson, Adrianna Maddox, Jacob Maddox (Emily) and Brittney Maddox; and her children, Rowan and Aurora.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 at Young's Chapel with the Rev. Benjy McCann officiating. Visitation will begin at noon until service time. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
