Strong clinches spots in regional tourney

HERMITAGE - Strong’s boys and girls basketball teams nailed down spots in the regional tournament with wins late Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs topped Hermitage 71-69, while the Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 53-27 win over Taylor.

Dynasty Davis had 21 points and Chrischunda Williams added 20 points for the Lady Bulldogs (10-10), who are the No. 2 seed and take on No. 3 seed and tourney host Hermitage tonight in the semifinals.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.

It looked like the Bulldogs (9-15) were going to post their third lopsided win over the Hermits after taking a 60-46 lead at the end of the third quarter, but Hermitage outscored Strong 23-11 in the final stanza to make the final margin.

Strong, the No. 4 seed, squares off against top-seeded Nevada in the semifinals today.

Game time is at 5:30 p.m.
