The El Dorado School Board approved a plan to remodel the women’s restroom on the grandstand side of Memorial Stadium during its Feb. 10 meeting.
The board unanimously approved the plan at the recommendation of El Dorado Superintendent Jim Tucker.
The plan was proposed by Blake Dunn with CADM Architecture, Inc.
After it was mentioned, many members from the audience quietly cheered.
During his presentation, Dunn said after the remodel, the women’s restroom would have 14 toilet stalls, which is 300% more than what’s already there. It would also be handicap accessible, and have two entrances and exits instead of just the one.
He also said there would be two hand-wash fountains, which is the semi-circular sinks with multiple places for people to wash their hands.
Dunn also said the bathroom would be fully screened, so it would be harder to see into the restroom from the doors.
He said the bathroom would add about 720 square feet of new space, which is about twice as large as the current restroom.
According to documents provided to the board, the proposed project is estimated at $122,590.
The documents also include a proposed timeline, which, if the board and reviewing agencies approves future plans, would put the bid and starting construction date in May. The plan also predicts construction would be completed by Aug. 15, about three weeks before the first home football game for the Wildcats.
Tucker said during the meeting that an idea for a remodel was discussed during talks about improving the press box and ramp at the stadium.
