The LifeShare Blood Center will be conducting three separate drawings to give blood donors a chance to win an Xbox Series X.

The first drawing took place Monday, with two more planned for today and Wednesday. Each person that comes to donate blood will be entered into the drawing for the day they donated blood.

“Blood is needed every day to ensure that we can provide blood products to all of our hospitals,” Brandon Baker, the regional director of LifeShare Blood Center Monroe, said. “Especially during the holidays when we have a lot of businesses and schools closed down. And when you add the COVID pandemic to that, we haven’t been able to go into some of the larger facilities (high schools, colleges, etc.) to collect the units we would typically have and collect for this time of year.”

Baker said LifeShare also views these drawings as a nice way to give back to the community.

“We want to give back to the community and to our donors,” Baker shared. “With COVID and everything that is going on we wanted to do these drawings. Especially with the boom around products like the new Xbox, we were able to obtain a few and we want to provide an opportunity to give back to our donors for helping and supporting us.”

It being the holiday season also makes these Xbox drawings even more special for the LifeShare Blood Center.

“It would mean a lot to us if by chance we are able to help a family give a kid their dream present. That family may not have been able to obtain gifts this year because of the tough times, so that was something we also wanted to do to give back to our donors and our community,” Baker said.

Community members are encouraged to go to El Dorado’s LifeShare Blood Center to donate and bring a friend if possible.

“Come out, donate some blood, and help us save some lives,” Baker said.
