El Dorado residents may have noticed three trucks from the El Dorado Fire Department at Hobby Lobby Friday afternoon around 1:30.

EFD Chief Chad Mosby said they were responding to what turned out to be a false alarm.

“We just had a water flow alarm on the sprinkler system,” Mosby said. “They went down there, checked everything out and everything was good. They’re (Hobby Lobby) supposed to get their sprinkler company to come check it out.”

Mosby explained that all large buildings in the city where people may congregate are required to to be equipped with a sprinkler system, which automatically transmits any alarms to an alarm company, which notified the EFD.

“They were just there a few minutes, checked everything out and then went back in service,” Mosby said.

Trucks from both the Central Station, which is located next door to City Hall, and Station 3, on Griffith Street, responded. The Central Station responds to every call that comes in, Mosby said.

When firefighters checked things out at Hobby Lobby, everything seemed to be in working order, Mosby said.

“This was pretty much a cut and dry false alarm,” he said.
