Trojans start golf season with victory

Parkers Chapel’s varsity boys’ golf team teed off the season with a win Tuesday in a three-team match at the Little River Country Club in Winthrop.

Reid Cates and Spencer Frisby each shot 43 to tie for medalist honors.

The Trojans shot 134 to easily outdistance DeQueen (151) and Cossatot (167). Caleb Barnes shot 48 for PC with Brayden Cotterman and Trey Rogers each carding 67.

The Lady Trojans finished third, but freshman Bella Frisby was runner-up in the medalist race, posting a 49 in her varsity debut.

“Greens were a little faster than what we are used to,” said Parkers Chapel coach Mona Williams.

“And, we had a three-and-a-half hour ride on a bus with a mask, so it took them a while to get going today. It was a good starting point especially for our young girls’ team.

“The Frisby family crushed it today.”

The Lady Trojans shot 166 to finish behind Cossatot (148) and DeQueen (160) and ahead of Foreman (210).

Franzi Kahlert and Hannah Brotherton shot 55 and 62, respectively, for Parkers Chapel.
