EPD investigating Wednesday evening shooting

El Dorado police officers responded to a man suffering from a gunshot wound early Wednesday evening near Cherry and Apple streets.

According to a press release from the El Dorado Police Department, the victim was 30-year-old Dejon Tandy of El Dorado.

Officers found Tandy suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower chest around 5:30 p.m. and contacted emergency medical services that transported him to the Medical Center of South Arkansas for treatment. He was later transferred to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, the release states.

Lt. Andrew Russell with the EPD said they have not received an update on Tandy's status as of 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
