Gary Steven Cook, 69, passed away just after midnight on September 18th, 2019 at his home in Lynchburg, VA. Gary battled lung cancer for four years before the Lord called him home. He was born in El Dorado, AR on December 11th, 1949 to Billie G. Cook and La Frieda Cook DeBruin. Gary loved to play the piano and could play any song he heard on radio/TV. Throughout his life, Gary worked as a radio and television personality in Arkansas, Texas, and Florida. He also served in the United States Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by his father, Billie G. Cook, mother, LaFrieda Cook DeBruin, twin brother, Glen Douglas Cook, and his uncle and aunt, Louie & Maurice Moore.
Gary is survived by his wife, Marilyn Sue Hoffman Cook; and his children, all from Northwest Arkansas: Shannon Hahn-Robertson, Amy Hix, Melissa Norton, Josh Cook and Kelly Douglas. He is also survived by 3 step-children, 9 grand-children, numerous cousins, and his aunt, Bobbie Carpenter, from El Dorado.
Gary will be remembered and cherished by the many lives he touched throughout his life and his career. He will be cremated in Lynchburg, VA. No word on a memorial service arrangement at this time.
