El Dorado gets past Magnolia

MAGNOLIA - El Dorado’s boys golf team came away with a win on Tuesday over Magnolia.

Preston Howard earned medalist honors with an 80 for the Wildcats.

Aaron Ezell shot an 89 and Brendan Jones had a 93 for the Wildcats, who had a team score of 262.

Magnolia finished with a team score of 314.

Saxon Morgan had a 97 and John Hollis finished with a 102 to round out EHS.

On the girls side, Magnolia’s Meghan Lindsey shot a one-under-par 71 to win medalist honors.

Hope Walthall paced El Dorado with an 89.

Aubrey Marx finished with a 96, while Alexa Hulsey and Lani Hammock each shot 104. Sydney Marx added a 113 for the Lady Wildcats.

Due to a change in the schedule, El Dorado will conclude the regular season slate with a home match at the El Dorado Golf & Country Club Thursday by hosting Crossett at 2 p.m.

The 5A South Conference Tournament will be hosted by Lake Hamilton next Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Glenwood Country Club.

PINE BLUFF – Barton’s eighth grade football team

traveled to Pine Bluff last week and fell for the first time this season 30-6.

The Wildkittens’ record dropped to 2-1. They host Camden Fairview Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Barton’s Devonta Williams scored on a 32-yard run to cut Pine Bluff’s lead to 8-6 in the second quarter.

But the Colts scored the final 22 points of the game.
