Created to recognize small businesses that demonstrate a commitment to Union County, the 2019 Spirit of South Arkansas Small Business Awards will take place next month. However, nominations are now open to nominate your favorite small businesses in Union County.
Nominations will be open though Sept. 25, with categories including: small business of the year, best women-owned business, best veteran-owned business, best minority-owned business, best family-owned business, customer-focused business, young entrepreneur, delicious dishes and the decade award.
Voting for the awards will take place Oct. 2-16, with the awards ceremony taking place Oct. 23 at the El Dorado Conference Center.
To nominate your favorite businesses, go to the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce’s website, goeldorado.com, and navigate to the 2019 Spirit of South Arkansas Small Business Awards page, which can be found in the quick links on the home page.

“The Spirit of South Arkansas Awards were created as a way to recognize small businesses that demonstrate a commitment to good business practice, employee relations and the greater community,” said Bill Luther, President and CEO of the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to recognizing these businesses and showing our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.”
Businesses that are eligible to be nominated must be made up of 50 employees or less, have completed three full years of operations as of Jan. 1, 2019 and have a valid business license.
Nominees must be located in Union County or be a member of the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce.
