William (Bill) L. Elliott, age 88 of El Dorado, passed away on Sept. 5, 2019, at Courtyard Health and Rehabilitation. Born July 29, 1931, in Worcester, MA, the son of Mildred and William E. Elliott, Bill graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1954.
He worked for U.S. Steel for 24 years before being transferred to El Dorado for the opening of AmerCable. After having served in various management positions for 15 years, Bill retired in 1994 from AmerCable. He was an avid sportsman, loved hunting and fishing, playing bridge and watching football.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joann Elliott (El Dorado, AR), his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and John Jurgensen (Columbia, SC) and his daughter, Diane Vogel (Chicago, IL) and one granddaughter, Amber Jurgensen (Seattle, WA).
A visitation will be held at Young’s Funeral Directors on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at 5-7 pm. Memorials can be made to UCAPS (Union County Animal Protection Society) 1000 Sunset Rd.
