Dessie Lee Anderson Williams, 101 of El Dorado passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019, at Timberlane Health and Rehabilitation. She was born in Dodson, LA, on December 17, 1917, to the late E.R. and Jessie Kohn Anderson. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Elliott Williams; son, Harold Thomas Williams; brothers, Charles E.J., Nicky, Wade, and James R. Anderson; and sisters, Jimmie Hudson, Pearl Lewis, Myrtle Bledsoe, and Emma Anderson.
Dessie is survived by her son, Bobby Elliott Williams (Jean) of El Dorado, grandchildren, Karen Harrell of Norphlet, Pam Vernon (Trey) of El Dorado, and Joanna McClure (Jeff) of Oxford, MS; great-grandchildren Austin Harrell (Amber) of El Dorado, Kate Vernon of El Dorado, and Will McClure of Oxford, MS; six great great-grandsons; daughter-in-law, Betty Williams of El Dorado; sister-in-law, Dorothy Anderson of El Dorado, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dessie retired after more than 40 years of owning and operating Williams Grocery. She was a long time member of Mt. Union Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, and gardening – she could grow anything. She was a fantastic story teller with a memory for details that was amazing. She was a wonderful mother, a loving wife, a caring grandmother, a good friend and a kind spirit who added so much to all the lives she touched.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels.
