Ways to celebrate Halloween

Looking for a way to jazz up Halloween festivities? Here’s a list of events in or around El Dorado for frights and fun.

Boo at the Pool

What: Healthworks Fitness will host a free Halloween party. It is open to the first 30 participants, girls and boys ages 6-12. Sign up will remain open until full. There will be pizza, a cake walk, a floating pumpkin patch, costume contest and more.

When: 5:30 - 8 p.m. Oct. 24 at Healthworks Fitness Center, 304 N Madison Ave.

El Dorado Haunt: Haunted House

What: With proceeds benefitting Camp Fire El Dorado, this is an interactive, scary haunted house experience for those ages 13 and older. Fear is a place called El Dorado Haunt.

When: 7 p.m. Oct. 25-31 at Mellor Park Mall, back entrance, at 1865 N. West Ave in El Dorado

Strut on the Square Pets & Kids Costume Contest

What: Pets and kids are invited to enter the costume contest on Main Street. The $5 entry fee will benefit UCAPS.

When: 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Oct. 26 on Main Street in El Dorado

Fall Fest 2019

What: The museum presents the annual fall festival. There will be games and activities. There is a $5 attendance fee per person.

When: 5-7 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources Foundation, 4087 Smackover Hwy in Smackover

Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat

What: There will be free candy, harvest games, food and a photo booth at the annual Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat.

When: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 26 at Union Baptist Church, 144 Crain City Rd in El Dorado

Hotshots Halloween Bash

What: Hotshots is hosting their annual Halloween Costume Contest. Winners will win cash, gift cards and food. Halloween themed drink specials will be announced throughout the night. This is an adult-themed event.

When: 10 p.m. Oct. 26 at Hotshots Sports Bar & Grill, 601 S. Timberlane in El Dorado

Camden Zombie Fest

What: The Women’s Crisis Center of South Arkansas presents ZombieFest. All costumes are welcome, although none are needed. There will be food, bounce houses, coloring contest, apple bobbing and more. The event is free and open to the public.

When: 1 - 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at River Woods, Terminal Road in Camden

Community Fall Fest

What: Hosted by the First United Methodist Church, activities will include trunk-a-treat, food, games, bouncy houses, face painting, a costume contest, prizes and more.

When: 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Murphy Arts District Amphitheatre, 105 E. Locust St in El Dorado

Griffin Graveyard at MAD

What: Project South Military Ministries will hand out candy to younger kids while older kids are invited to walk through MAD’s spooky graveyard. The event is free.

When: 4-8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Griffin Restaurant, 101 E Locust St.

Scare on the Square Trick or Treat

What: Families are invited to trick or treat with downtown businesses such as Sports Alley, The Southern Hippie, Mister Tuxedo and more.

When: 4-7 p.m. Oct. 31 on Main Street

PJ’s Annual Halloween Party

What: PJ’s will host its annual party that includes drink specials and a costume contest. Judging for the contest begins during the last hour of the event for everyone in attendance. There are also specials for those in costume, although PJ’s asks that attendees keep costumes family friendly and that anyone who is dressed in a hateful manner or reveals too much will be asked to leave — although they are welcome back after a change of costume.

When: 5-10 p.m. Oct. 31 at PJ’s, 106 W Main Street.

Barton Public Library Monster Mash Bash

What: The library will host a free event and invites the community to come dressed up for activities and a movie.

When: 5:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at Barton Library, 200 E 5th St.

Boys & Girls Club Halloween Bash

What: The Boys & Girls Club will host a safe place for the community to trick or treat with the family. There will be free food, candy, games, face painting, photo booth, costume contests and more.

When: 5:30 - 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Boys & Girls Club, 1201 N West Ave.

“Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror”

What: The West Edge String Quartet will accompany the classic silent film “Nosferatu.” The piece was composed by South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra conductor Kermit Poling. Tickets range from $15-40, depending on where patrons want to sit, and are available on the Murphy Arts District website.

When: 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the First Financial Music Hall, 101 E Locust
