PC athletes to compete in Overall Tennis Tournament

The Arkansas Overall Tennis Tournament will be held Monday at Burns Park in Little Rock. A pair of Parkers Chapel doubles teams will be among the elite to earn a spot in the prestigious event.

Ali Looney and Kenlee McAuliffe will compete in the girls’ doubles with Jordan Arrington and Austin Looney advancing in the boys’ doubles.

“I am very happy to have two teams competing in the overall. It will be a tough tournament for both teams,” said Parkers Chapel coach Casey Rapp. “The goal for both the boys and the girls is to just play their best. We are looking forward to seeing such great teams and are glad to have the opportunity to compete.”

Looney and McAuliffe will play Pulaski Academy’s Habba Heshmat and Bella Tan, beginning at 9 a.m. Heshmat and Tan are the 4A state championships. They did not drop a set in last week’s 4A State Tournament.

Looney and McAuliffe finished second in the 2A State Tournament.

Arrington and Austin Looney will face Episcopal Collegiate’s Sydney Dassinger and Teddy Jones at 9 a.m. Dassinger and Jones won the 3A State Tournament, losing a total of just 12 games in three matches.

Arrington and Looney finished second in the 2A State Tournament, falling in the championship match 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 to Haas Hall Bentonville.
