Junction City knocks off Bearden

BEARDEN - Junction City’s balanced offense continued its solid production, as the Dragons cruised to a 44-0 win over Bearden Friday night in 8-2A play.

The win is the 11th straight for the Dragons in the series.

Brady Hutcheson made the most of his two passes, connecting on touchdown passes of 52 and 76 yards to Harlandus Frazier in the first half, as Junction City raced out a to a 38-0 halftime lead before winning by the final margin.

Junction City’s ground game also had a solid night, as Jakiron Cook scored on a 29-yard run in the first quarter and Jamal Johnson added a 21-yard touchdown run in the second stanza.

The Dragons’ defense also dented the scoreboard with Frazier returning an interception for a touchdown for Junction City’s second touchdown of the game.

Hutcheson went 2-of-2 passing for 128 yards and two scores.

A.J. Ivory paced the rushing attack with 66 yards on four carries.

Cook added 46 yards and a touchdown on four carries.

The Dragons (6-1, 3-0), winners of five straight, will host Fordyce in a pivotal 8-2A showdown next week.

The Bears (1-6, 0-3) have lost six straight and will play at Hampton next week.
