Jonesboro knocks off El Dorado

JONESBORO - El Dorado saw their season come to an end on Friday night, as the Wildcats fell to Jonesboro 35-7 in the opening round of the 6A playoffs.

The Wildcats' lone score came at the 5:21 mark of the opening quarter on a 67-yard touchdown pass from Eli Shepherd to Steven Tollette with Greysen Hubbard making the extra point to tie the game at 7-all, but it was all Jonesboro the rest of the way.

El Dorado, the No. 5 seed from the 6A West, finished their season at 4-7.

Jonesboro, the No. 4 seed from the 6A East, improves to 8-3 and will take on 6A West No. 1 seed Benton next week.

"Jonesboro outplayed us tonight," said El Dorado coach Steven Jones. "They are a good team and they made more timely plays than us."

Jones, who is in his first year at El Dorado, said he is excited about what lies ahead for the Wildcats.

"I'm proud of our team and how they continued to fight week in and week out," Jones said. "I'm excited about the future here."
