Alma Jean Williams, 77, of Bernice, Louisiana, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 at Arbor Lake Nursing and Rehab Center in Farmerville, Louisiana. Jean was born on Oct. 10, 1942 in Rum Center, Union Parish, Louisiana, to the late Etta Mae Tucker Thurmon and George Colvin Thurmon.

She was a retired LPN, having worked in home health and for several nursing homes during her career. She was a member of Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, vegetable gardening and caring for others, but her favorite pastime was quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darden Williams; one son, Stephen Overstreet; and a grandson, Toby Wilson, Jr.

Survivors include: four children, Melanie McDonald and husband Ronnie of Bernice, Tony Overstreet and wife Michelle of Fort Smith, Lance Overstreet and wife Amanda of Ruston, and Stacy Parham and husband Heath of Magnolia; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Horton, Misty McDonald, Kristian Parham, Taylor Githens, Daniel Parham, Allison Overstreet, Hannah Beechem and Cassidy Overstreet; eight great grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Leon Thurmon and wife Violette of Junction City, and Earl Thurmon and wife Pat of Spearsville; one sister, Esther Mullins and husband Donald of Farmerville, and her special K9 companion, Smoky.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at Pisgah Baptist Church Family Life Center. Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019 at Pisgah Baptist Church, with Bro. Ruben Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Junction City.
