Strong-Huttig School Board approves all items on agenda

The Strong-Huttig School Board approved all items on the agenda at its Nov. 11 meeting.

The board approved all financial statements, a revision to its 350 Waiver Resolution and the pay rate for long-term certified substitutes who fill in for a certified teacher due to serious illness or other extenuating circumstances approved by the administration.

Superintendent Kimberly Thomas said the financial statements approved were the district’s typical monthly expenditures, which includes changes in fund balances, bank reconciliation and the cafeteria finance statement.

Thomas said the revision under 350 Waiver Resolution would read so that students who attend the district, if a school was consolidated with another, and had to attend another school district would have a very long bus ride.

“We have a pretty large area and a lot of students live at a great distance,” Thomas said.

The pay rate for a long-term certified substitute is based on a first-year starting teacher salary daily pay rate.

Thomas said if the district had a situation where a teacher was out for an extenuating circumstance, the certified teacher needed to fill in would be able to be paid.

The board also recognized students of the month from lower elementary, junior high and senior high students. These students are: Natalie Pratt, Casey Benjamin, Z’arra Jamerson and Gavin Williams.
