Multi-vehicle crash snarls traffic in eastern Arkansas

FORREST CITY (AP) — Interstate 40 in eastern Arkansas has reopened after a multi-vehicle crash shut down westbound lanes for hours on Wednesday morning.

Authorities say eight vehicles were involved in the crash at about 7:45 a.m. Wednesday on the interstate near Forrest City, about 85 miles (135 kilometers) east of Little Rock. The agency says the wreck involved four commercial vehicles and four passenger vehicles.

The agency says the wreck involved a fatality, but no details were released. Westbound traffic was detoured at the Parkin exit until the lanes reopened at about noon Wednesday.
