Billy DeWayne Cross, age 37, of El Dorado, AR was born on May 25, 1981 in Camden, AR and he went to be with our Lord on March 15, 2019 at St Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA surrounded by his loved ones, family, and friends.
Billy is survived by his mother, Karen Cross Bullard of Camden, his father, William R. Cross and wife Jackie, of El Dorado, and Shelli Cross, mother No. 2, of El Dorado.
He is also survived by two sisters and three brothers, Holly Cross White, Morgan K. Cross, Robert L. Cross, Clayton J. Cross all of El Dorado, AR, and Steven Bullard, Jr. of Horatio, AR., his maternal grandfather Bobby Beard, of Prescott, AR, and three uncles, Kenneth Cross and wife Brenda, Wayne Cross of Shreveport, LA, and Marc Maroney of Rye, AR. One aunt Lisa Carlan, of Georgia and one aunt Debra Langford, of Dequeen, AR, three step sisters, Kaylee, Karlee, and Kaycee and one step brother Gage Otwell all of El Dorado, AR. Grandparents Victor Mac and Lola Maroney of Banks, AR.
Billy is survived by one nephew, Logan White and two nieces, Anna Leigh White and Lillian G. Malone of El Dorado, AR and two nieces, Stevie Bullard, Raylan Bullard of Horatio, AR.
Billy was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Faye Moseley and his paternal grandparents Robert Lee Cross and Dora Tyra Cross, and an uncle Bobby Ed ‘Cricket’ Beard. Significant losses to Billy include his Great Uncle Herschel Cross and George Wilson ‘Uncle Jr.’ and a very special cousin/brother Mathew Cross.
Although having no children of his own, Billy cherished his nephew and nieces. His thrill-seeking personality allowed him to keep them engaged when he was present and around them. Whether wrestling in the floor with them, playing video games, 4-wheeler riding, or cannonballs in the pool, he exerted endless energy and expressed his love for them and filled them with joy. Billy was so strong and invincible, from their perspective. He was their superhero and he enjoyed being the GREAT uncle.
Billy attended El Dorado High School and afterward obtained numerous special work training certifications. They include SafeGulf SafeLand USA, OSHA, Water Survival W/Huet and Water Transfer, Aerial and Scissor Platforms, Hydrogen Sulfide(H2S) and Respiratory Fitness. These certifications allowed him to work in and experience commercial scaffold construction in the Gulf of Mexico.
Billy had a strong work ethic, never afraid to push the limits at work and to push those that worked with him. His confidence and competitiveness earned him respect and a lifetime of irreplaceable friendships.
Those friendships respectively admit Billy would push them all to climb higher, to work longer, and to accomplish more because of his work drive. His competitiveness was not resented but pushed others to push harder themselves. His fearlessness to perform the work he did, at unimaginable heights, with his co-workers made bonds that will never be broken.
When Billy wasn’t working, he enjoyed the outdoors He had to have the open air and loved spending time with his friends, family, and his dog “Hoss”. Billy ran to the aid of friends and family when they needed muscle or just a strong shoulder to lean on.
Billy was personable and a socializer and he would smile now at some of the stories that his friends and co-workers have shared. The ‘I REMEMBER’ when stories that we all have. There are a few that are sure to get an ‘Awe Naw’ I didn’t do that-reaction from Billy with innocent eyes, but even more stories and fun tales that his reaction to us would be ‘That’s right, I sure did!!’

Allow us also to have comfort in knowing God has his hand, that he will continue to climb the highest heights without fear and will have everlasting peace. God bless everyone who knew and loved Billy, because he would straight up tell you- ‘It’s a CROSS thing!
