Bucks win in tourney

SPRING HILL, La. - Smackover defeated North Caddo 7-6 Saturday to claim third place in the North Webster Invitational Baseball Tournament. The Bucks improved to 2-8 on the season.

North Webster scored a run in the seventh and had the tying run on third before Josh Saulsbury struck out the final batter looking to save the game.

The Bucks had 10 hits, including a 3-for-4 performance at the plate by Jacob Eubanks, who drove in a run. Dawson Biggers and Chase Brumley both had two hits and drove in runs. Baylor Brumley had a hit and two RBI with Noah Wilson and Bailey Rivers each driving in runs with a hit apiece.

Wilson started and went 4 2/3 innings to secure the victory. He allowed four runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Rhett Richards pitched an inning and allowed two hits. Saulsbury went the final 1 1/3, allowing a run with a walk and two strikeouts.

Smackover fell into the loser's bracket Friday after a 2-0 loss to North Webster. The Bucks were held to just three hits, one each by Biggers, Eubanks and Forest Harrison.

Baylor Brumley pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. Saulsbury pitched 1 2/3 innings, striking out two batters.

Smackover travels to Ashdown on Tuesday for a conference encounter, beginning at 5 p.m.

PARKERS CHAPEL 7,

WARREN 5

WARREN – The Trojans scored twice in the eighth inning Saturday and held off the Lumberjacks to improve to 9-2 on the season.

Warren had forced extra innings after scoring four in the seventh to tie the game.

Michael Brotherton started on the mound for Parkers Chapel and went five innings, allowing one run on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Tyler Martin earned the win in relief, giving up four runs on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts in three innings.

Reid Cates, Trace Shoup and Thomas Hardy had three hits apiece for Parkers Chapel.

Parkers Chapel travels to Magnolia to take on Lakeside on Tuesday in the Magnolia Tournament, beginning at 11:15.
