PC's Hurst fans 14 in perfect game

PARKERS CHAPEL - In a season that has seen dominant performances from Parkers Chapel’s pitching staff, Grayson Hurst delivered the best to date Friday afternoon.

A senior, Hurst fired a perfect game to lead the Trojans to an 11-0 win over Gurdon.

Hurst recorded his first 13 outs of the game on strikeouts before his 14th out came on a ground out. The senior then fanned the next batter to finish his perfect game with 14 strikeouts in 15 outs.

Hurst needed 69 pitches to complete his perfect game against the Go-Devils.

The Trojans (8-2) gave the senior all of the run support he would need with a run in the first before breaking the game open with seven runs in the second.

Parkers Chapel scored twice in the third and once in the fourth to make the final margin.

Reid Cates went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three runs scored and four RBIs to lead the Trojans at the plate.

Trace Shoup was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for the Trojans, who had 11 hits in the win.

Michael Brotherton, Jordan Arrington, Thomas Hardy, Tyler Martin, Austin Looney and Trace Lout each had one hit with Arrington, Martin and Lout each picking up an RBI.

The Trojans are scheduled to play at Warren today.
