Noel Owen Wright, Jr., 90, of El Dorado and Heber Springs, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Baptist Hospital, Little Rock. He was born September 4, 1928 to Noel Owen Wright and Emma Bernice Randolph Wright in Jackson, Mississippi.
Owen was a 1949 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Lion Oil Company in El Dorado before being drafted in 1950 during the Korean Conflict. During his service in the United States Army Owen was stationed at Camp Detrick, Maryland, being discharged in 1952 with the rank of Private. From 1952 until 1956 he served in the Army Reserves. He worked for Monsanto Chemical Company first in Luling, Louisiana and then in El Dorado until his retirement in 1983. Owen was an avid fisherman and gardener who enjoyed a long, active retirement spending time with family and friends, working his large front yard garden, and trout fishing the Little Red River from his back yard dock. He always loved to share the bounty of his harvest and catch with neighbors in Heber Springs and El Dorado.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife of 59 years, Martha Sue Draper Wright, and his sister Bernice Wright Ney.
Survivors include daughter Sue Loe (Gary) of Arkadelphia, sons Noel Wright III of El Dorado and Arnold Wright of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Adam Loe (Stephanie) of Bodcaw and Dusty Coon of Camden; and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by nephew Scott Ney (Melinda), and nieces Elyn Tovey, Linda Ney and Kathy Turk (Ray). Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Young’s. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Park with Bro. Trenton Cooper officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
