Meet Me at the Court is expecting clear skies for its fifth annual chili cook-off, which is set for 2 p.m. Saturday on the basketball court in the area of Lester and Columbia behind Arby’s restaurant.
Veronica Bailey, founder and chief executive officer of Meet Me at the Court, said The Homemade Chili Cook-off was rescheduled from March 9 due to inclement weather.
Bailey said the community is encouraged to enter their favorite homemade chili recipes to compete for cash prizes and trophies. There is no entry fee and the event is free and open to the public.
Chili that is entered into the contest must be prepared off-site and ready for tasting by the judges once participants arrive, Bailey said. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place winners.
Following the judging, attendees can sample chili recipes with bowls of chili, chili dogs, Frito pies, chili nachos, desserts and beverages that will be served to the crowd.
