Parkers Chapel split two games at the Haynesville (La.) Tournament last week, downing Jonesboro-Hodge (La.) 5-3 and falling to Southwood (La.) 8-3.

In their win, the Trojans scored twice in the sixth to break a 3-all tie, and they got a great outing out of the bullpen by Reid Cates, who didn’t allow a hit in 2 2/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win.

He walked two and struck out two.

Grayson Hurst started and allowed three hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Of the three runs he allowed, none were earned. He walked three and struck out four.

Michael Brotherton was 2-for-2 with two runs scored for the Trojans.

Trace Shoup was also 2-for-2 along with one run scored and one RBI.

Austin Looney was 1-for-3 with a run, and the Trojans also got RBIs from Jordan Arrington, Caleb Jacobs and Hurst in the win.

In their loss to Southwood, the Trojans fell behind 3-0, but scored twice in the fourth to pull within a run.

However, a two-run fifth and a three-run sixth allowed the Cowboys to pull away.

The Trojans had 10 hits in the contest with Cates, Arrington, Jacobs and Thomas Hardy all finishing with two hits.

Brotherton and Hurst each had one hit with the latter driving in two runs for the Trojans.

Hardy also collected an RBI for the Trojans.

Jacobs took the loss after allowing three runs in one-plus inning of work.
